Kennebec River Canoe Trips

"The Forks Trip"

All summer and fall! (weekdays only)

Kennebec River canoe tripThis guided Maine canoe trip on the Kennebec River starts in the village of “The Forks”. We meet at about noon and wait in our canoes or kayaks for the water level to rise with the release from the dam at Harris station, which is about 12 miles up river. The water will rise about 3 feet in about 15 minutes! The current is fast with quick water, easy rips and class 1 rapids for the first 8 miles then a mile of easy paddling on beautiful Wyman Lake to the take out near our base camp in Caratunk. This fun canoe trip is about 9 miles and takes about 3 hours to complete. This is a great trip for learning how to handle a canoe on moving water, the rapids are easy and are fine for the beginner or families with small children. We use very stable Old Town Otter and Loon kayaks as well as Old Town Discovery 169 canoes for our trips. These guided Maine canoe trips include all equipment, a snack and shuttles to and from the river.

Price is $220 for up to four people and $55 for each additional person

If you have some canoeing experience we also offer this trip as a self guided adventure for only $40 per person! We supply all equipment and shuttle to the river, by reservation only.

"The Augusta Trip"

Summer and fall trips (weekdays only in July and August)

Kennebec River canoe tripCanoe or kayak the choice is yours for these fine day trips on the Kennebec River. The river has many interesting things to check out along the way such as the large log and stone "log booms" (shown in the picture to the right) a left over from the Kennebec's early logging days. This trip starts in the town of Sidney and we explore our way downriver to Maine’s capital city of Augusta. The current is slow moving with a few waves and an occasional easy rip as we near the head of tide in Augusta. We will take out in the park by Historic Fort Western which was built in 1754 and now houses a museum that is open to the public. www.oldfortwestern.org  We often see bald eagles, ducks and ospreys on this excellent family canoe trip!
