St. Croix River Canoe Trip
This
great Maine canoe trip starts just below the dam at the outlet of
Spednik Lake in the small town of Vanceboro, Maine. The dam provides a
constant flow of water on the St. Croix throughout the summer even when
most other rivers in Maine are too low for canoeing. The left shore of
the river is New Brunswick, Canada, we will be following the
international boundary for the entire trip! The St. Croix river is a
great river for canoe camping and learning whitewater skills. The river
has a good current for most of the trip with many easy rapids followed
by sections that are an easy float. There is a short rapid called Little
Falls that is usually rated at class 2 or 3 at summer water levels, we
will portage the gear and then you can run the falls if you want to with
an empty canoe. This section of the river has a number of nice
well-maintained campsites! We often see bald eagles, moose, white tailed
deer, turtles and beaver on this trip. The Bass fishing can also be
very good at times. This 3 day/2 night guided Maine canoe trip includes
all equipment, meals and shuttle. You supply just your own sleeping bag,
ground pad, clothing and other personal items. This trip can easily be
extended by adding our Spednik Lake trip to its start for a great 5
day canoe trip! (Call for price) Also for an additional $150 per person we could add one
more day and 12 more miles to the trip which would allow us to paddle downriver
to the take out at the dam at Kelly Land.
Price is $550 per person for the 3 day trip and $700 for the 4 day. (based on a 4 person minimum)
