Hi paddlers!
Thanks for
surfing in!
It has been raining
here in central Maine for most of the last week with over three inches
of rain so far! This heavy rain has brought the levels of most of
the rivers and streams back up to the levels normally only seen in
the early spring! The forecast is for a gradual clearing this week
with temps in the 80's for the end of the week and maybe even into
the weekend! If your interested in paddling some nice whitewater in
the next few days there are many options to choose from. Give me a
call or send an email and we can get a plan together for a fun early
summer whitewater trip!
The Piscataquis River
is now at a perfect level for a fun class 2 kayak trip! The water
levels should be good for the next few days only! This is a
great intermediate level kayaking adventure with class 1 and 2
rapids for miles! You do not need to be an expert but a little
moving water experience would be a good thing here. We use very
stable and maneuverable Old Town Otter kayaks without spray skirts
for this fun trip. It's one of my favorites and is a rare treat to
paddle it this time of the year! The cost of this fun adventure is
only $45 per person, I provide all kayaking gear, shuttle, lunch and
myself as a guide. Please call or email me if you would like to join
us!
Summer is here!!!! We are now
tubing on the Kennebec and will be open at
our Caratunk office and campground seven days a week through the
summer. Our river tubing
rentals have also started for the summer for our "Forks Trip" on the Kennebec
River. This trip is about 8 miles long and usually takes a couple of
hours to reach the take out. The river in this section is fast
moving with a few easy rapids here and there to keep things
interesting! The cost for this fun unique summer adventure is only
$20 per person and we have a discount for the kids!
We are also booking our dates for this
summers adventures! If you are planning an
outdoor adventure for this summer we would love to be a part of your
plans! Please give us a call or email to talk things over. We
are very flexible and will work with you to plan an adventure that
should be one of the highlights of your summer! We have many fun filled activities to choose from including
both guided and self guided canoeing, kayaking, river tubing and
overnight camping adventures.
Our campground in Caratunk, Maine
has eight nicely wooded hillside sites available for
only $20 per night! We
are located on the east side of US Route 201 in the small town of Caratunk in
the Northwestern mountains of Maine.
Thanks for checking out our web site, we hope
you can join us this summer! If you have any
questions or would like to discuss your plans please call or email us!
