Roach River Canoe Trip
spring or after heavy rains
This
exciting Maine canoe trip on the Roach River starts about 20 miles
north of Greenville in the small village of KoKadjo. (Population “not
many” as the sign at the edge of the village proudly states) The Roach
River is well known by fishermen as one of Maine’s outstanding fly
fishing rivers for Brook Trout and Landlocked Salmon. The well kept
secret about this river though is that when the water is high it is an excellent 6 mile
whitewater run of mostly class 2 rapids! The current is fast with no
flat water until we reach Spencer Cove on Moosehead Lake where we will
paddle about a mile to the take out. The State of Maine owns a corridor
along this river on both sides protecting it from future development.
This canoe trip is best suited for the intermediate level of canoeist
and can be done with a canoe or kayak the choice is yours. This guided 4
hour Maine adventure includes all equipment, snack and shuttle back to
your vehicle.
Price is $240 for up to four people and $60 for each additional person
